In addition, you get and instantly complete the "path" quest for your secondary class. You know, those six quests (of which only four is available to any given char) in the desert that are needed for secondary switches.

i think ive read of people doing it at like level 3 or something, just some really ridiculous low level.
of course, you'd have to have jumped to post searing ASAP and then been run all the way to sanctum cay, been run through the mission and the desert missions, but with the way the ascension AI works, the doppelganger is really stupid and it doesnt take much in the way of skills ultimately to defeat him. especially if you walk the road that has already been paved by previous people, and steal the info on what to do from guildwiki.

My monk ascended over the weekend! Woohoo! So that's two good ascended monks now, right, Silent Kitty.
Fastest ascension ever, in that all three missions were completed bang-bang-bang and dopple was easy. Easy to get into groups as a monk, though soured me on grouping with her again. Elona and Dunes were okay, but a jerk necro was in the group for Thirsty. He'd run into a middle of a mob, cast a bunch of spells that sacrifice life so his health would drop to about 25%, and then yell at me when I couldn't keep him alive. Everyone else ignored him and kept thanking me for healing them, so I think they knew he was being a jerk, too.
But I thought, to heck with it, I'll hench with her as much as I can, and she's since henched Dragon's Lair, Ice Caves of Sorrow, and Iron Mines of Moladune. Tonight, she may try henching THK. Wish her and Lina luck.

Silent Kitty is taking a rest now. I am doing Kryta missions with my MoRa now, which is already lvl 18. I don't like the desert much. My hench constantly got their butts kicked by hydras
I don't mind joining with pugs. If we fail, us monks can easily find a next one

I have a RaMo that just reached the desert. Just made lvl 19. What I usually do when I get to the desert is visit everywhere on the map before attempting any of the missions, so by the time she starts doing the ascension missions, she'll probably be lvl 20. At lvl 19, you rack up decent experience with each kill.
I'm also not fond of the desert. It's the one place in GW that feels more like a grind than anything else.

I did all the missions, several times, and beat the doppleganger with brains only.

The doppleganger is always level 20. The only thing he copies is your skills. Its a little harder than most people think, because with pre sear armor at level 6 he hits for like 300.
